Santa Fe psychotherapist working with teens

Over the past 6 months, I’ve been pursuing becoming a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator-Candidate (CDWF-Candidate), so that I can run ongoing groups and weekend intensives for women of all ages, to meet the challenges before them, to thrive in their lives, and and to push away or climb over the “boulders” that hold them back.

On November 4th, I will start offering an 6-week group that will meet on Saturdays from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM until December 16th. Download the flyer for more information. Click “Contact Me” in the main menu if you’re interested.

Do you know that most women wait until they feel 100% before pursuing a goal? You know what that is? Perfectionism.
(Check out Katy Kay and Claire Shipman’s excellent 2014 article in The Atlantic, The Confidence Gap.)

The reason we seek to be perfect before, during, and after any task has little to do with your qualifications or readiness–it’s usually due to the fear of feeling shame. We think that if we are “perfect enough” we won’t step in the pothole of shame.

But shame is in there, for all of us. The buttons of shame get pushed so easily by our environments, our family members, our workplaces, and also, by ourselves (through our ingrained beliefs and confabulations). And then we react to shame, and shame drives the show! Thankfully, there is a way to work with shame. We can identify it and there are strategies to step into our courage and out from behind the shadows of shame.

More about The Daring Way™
The Daring Way™ is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. The method was designed for work with individuals, couples, families, work teams, and organizational leaders. It can be facilitated in clinical, educational, and professional settings. During the process of our meetings, we explore topics such as vulnerability, courage, shame, and worthiness. We examine the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are holding us back and we identify the new choices and practices that will move us toward more authentic and wholehearted living. The primary focus is on developing shame resilience skills and developing daily practices that transform the way we live, love, parent, and lead.

If you know that there’s something inside you waiting to thrive; that there’s something in you waiting to meet yourself; that there’s something inside you causing you to avoid the challenge of being authentically you, this group is for you.

Together we’ll lift the facade of shame, to get to the authentic you.
